It’s time to get real about the scale.
Why the scale should NOT be the only measure of success
What’s up Drip Fam,
It’s time to get real about the scale.
Have you ever put in a hard week of lifting, cardio, and dieting, only to see that the number on the scale didn’t change AT ALL? Or worse, it went up?
If yes, how’d it make you feel? It probably made you want to give up, right?
THAT IS THE WRONG MENTALITY.
When you’re on a weight loss journey, your body goes through many transformations. As a result, your body weight will fluctuate both up and down.
That is okay. Because the scale is not the only measure of success. And that’s why you need to stop obsessing over it right this second.
While reaching a specific goal weight may be your ultimate mission, there are soooo many other wins to document progress along the way to completing it.
And if you are going to maintain the motivation to keep pushing along this 3-month, 6-month, sometimes even 12-month process of losing body fat and gaining lean muscle, you HAVE to celebrate all wins, big or small.
Do your jeans fit better than they did 3 weeks ago? Are you able to run farther and longer without getting winded? Are you setting new personal records on the bench press and curl machines?
Or maybe it’s as simple as you’ve noticed that you feel more energized, confident, and mentally clear?
Whatever types of health improvements you see as you continue along your path to glory, they ALL matter just as much as your scale number goal, and you need to celebrate them accordingly.
And when it comes to tracking progress, there are countless ways to do it beyond the scale.
You can:
Take progress photos to visually see your transformation over time.
Keep a journal to track your workouts, nutrition, and how you're feeling.
Measure your body fat percentage or waist circumference.
The options are endless!
The road towards your best body (and your best self) will never be linear. There will be many ups and downs, twists and turns, reroutes, and detours.
Don’t get discouraged. You are on the right track. Keep pushing on.
And always remember: The journey to a healthier you is about way more than the number on the scale. It's also about feeling strong, confident, and empowered every step of the way.
So, let's celebrate those wins together and keep crushing those goals!
With love,
Jonathan Walker
